From "The Tourist Mecca of The South," Allendale, SC,
Welcome. I hope you enjoy your visit.
I set this site up for two reasons; (1.) I am a history buff (see below), and (2.) I have a variety of items of which you may have some interest. These include photos of old Allendale County, along with all occasion cards, and post cards. I also am planning to put up miscellaneous antiques and one-of-a-kind items up for sale.
If you plan tovisit the on line shop, please register first, for if you find something of intrest, you HAVE to register before it can be purchased. Therefore, please register if you are going to the online shop. Directions are below.
Some History of Allendale County (History Section)
I am a history buff and my main interest is in the history of Allendale County in South Carolina. This is only natural, for I was born here and lived my entire life in Allendale County. I started this site in 1994 with some old pictures and some history of Allendale County. Since that time it has grown somewhat!
In the last year I started two other sights, The Allendale County Web and The Allendale County Citizen. The "County Web" is a site that is mainly a forum for and about Allendale County, it's residents and it's natives. There is also a photo gallery there with over 1,000 pictures dealing with the history and people in and originally from Allendale County. You can get to this site HERE.
The "County Citizen" is mainly a forum about the current political activities in Allendale County. You can get to that site HERE.
In December 2008 I changed the format of this site to include an on line shop to sell some of the photos and post cards I have accumulated over the years. I also deleted the history section of the original site. In the last week or so, I have received several emails asking that the history section be added to this site as well. Therefore, I am in the process of adding photos and some history about these photos of places in Allendale County.
The "shop" has most of my attention because it helps to pay the expense of running this site. However, I will be adding photos (which can be purchased in the shop) and short histories about most of the photos in the "History" section of the site.
I hope you enjoy your visit, and I hope you find something of interest in both sides of this site. Thank you for stopping by.
